Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Senior Director, Investments will contribution to the leadership of the asset management function and management of the University’s investment portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the investment process, including sourcing, due diligence, and hiring investment managers.
The Senior Director will maintain a strong understanding of the investment landscape, including asset classes, investment products, and market trends, and will apply the knowledge to identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities that align with the University’s investment objectives, risk tolerance, and long-term goals.
The Senior Director will also be responsible for developing a network of allocators and managers, both internal and external to the organization, and will use this network to stay up-to-date with market trends and identify new investment opportunities.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement investment strategies for the university’s endowment that align with its mission, risk tolerance, and long-term goals
- Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including analysis of financial statements, market trends, and risk factors
- Lead the investment team in evaluating potential investment managers, negotiating fees, and making investment decisions
- Build and maintain relationships with investment managers, allocators, and industry experts to stay abreast of market trends and identify potential opportunities
- Prepare and present investment recommendations to the investment committee, including detailed analysis of investment risks, returns, and diversification benefits
- Monitor and report on the performance of the organization’s investment portfolio, including risk exposure, return on investment, and liquidity levels
- Serve as a key liaison with other departments and stakeholders, including the finance, legal, and development teams, to ensure that investment strategies align with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in the investment industry, with a focus on private markets/alternatives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop views on asset classes and identify potential investment opportunities.
- Strong network of allocators and managers.
- Experience presenting in front of an investment committee.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA
- Investment designation (e.g., CFA, CAIA, FRM)
Minimum Starting Salary: $250,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $325,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
